The concept of government-only space travel is officially being replaced by something entirely new -- an inspiring business ecosystem composed of public-private collaborations lead by NASA.
Since the retirement of the Space Shuttle program a few years ago NASA has been entirely dependent on Russia for transporting astronauts to and from the space station, current prices are at $70.7 million for each one-way ticket. Yesterday NASA announced a relationship with Boeing and SpaceX as part of it's Commercial Crew program that should have their seven-person crew ships ready to take over the role by late 2017.
